Fireflies dance across my soul
Twinkling like a thousand tiny stars
I watch from the back porch
Sipping iced sweet tea.
They gather in force
In the far field near the barn.
They ride a gentle summer's breeze
Like dancing faeries
Lost within the passion
Of an unnamed dance.
I smile, close my eyes, and breathe.
The katydids sing, the frogs echo,
The locust hum chorus
Ice settles in my glass
And I release my Soul.
