So there I sat
a ghost
in pain,
doomed
and often haunted.

Innumerable stars
outnumbered me,
the moon shined on
each morning,

as very slowly
in the blink
of an eye

an ill
fitting
end
obtained,

afterwhich
the cage
was gone

and something
else
emerged.

i think i held my breath at the 'blink' unknowingly, and let it go at the end wondering how the new something felt now...hoping it was.. lighter... intriguing and thought provoking piece
