I don't like throwing things away
because memory's
the closest thing
I got
to roots.

And these things
bring it all roaring back

They're in boxes
set in rows
down in the basement
going all the way back
into the dark
where the lightbulb's
burned out
in the corner.

love the straightforward.ness, the skin.tight and well.worn words work so well here; simplistic....succinct... secluded and so real; velveteen......thoughtful piece .ness.

jeesh..my mom tells me I'm a genuine pack-rat...perhaps the fact is that throwing things away feels like I'm letting go of memories forever. The imagery in this is excellent...it hit home, hard. ~*Beth*~
