Release the idea that
To die is far too simple
When life is suicide

Take your pick
Broadcast T.V.
Kennedy, King, Tel Aviv?
It all adds up to another dead president
Setting up another precedent of bullet hole promises
And screaming death rising to the tidings of hop scotch child smiles
And hiding behind the hair trigger homicidal tendencies of a newborn's mother

Post partum rigormortis
Has a strangle hold
Around the neck of Candy Cane walkers
Carted off on Licorice stretchers
To give the bitter a better taste
And fill the gaps of hollow tomorrows

Turn the dials of enjoyment television
To singular revelation
While the rush of retribution is injected by the power of suggestion to the institution of bite lip confusion as V-chip suppression
As Gang rape initiation
As Gun point manipulation
As The slaughter of a nation

What's out there to save us?
I just can't digest it.

When it's as excessive as the hours of today
A never ending / endlessly repeated count to twenty four
Wondering when this backdoor war of never backing down will be up and out and forever over

And when we'll release the idea that
To live is far too simple
When dying is much more fun.

I really liked the wry, sardonic pun of the title and politically it fit in with the current climate and the notions and observations and feelings conveyed here are sharp, focused and challenging; sad and certain...powerfuly expressed and potently concluded....great poem
