--Do you see:
--That bird over there,
--The one flying,
--High through the air,
--Effortlessly,
--Gaining altitude?

I see one,
Of a multitude,

Of silhouettes,
Against the backdrop.
Bird shaped, perhaps, but that...
Is where my sight does stop.
Yet when I close my eyes,
I can truly see the beast,
And yes of beauty,
This is a glorious mental feast!
I am flying along with it,
In my mind,
Together with it,
I climb and climb.
We soar to and fro,
So fantastically!

Indeed this truly is,
What it means to be free.
Can you see,
What I have seen?
Can you go,
Where I have just been?
If not, I pity you,
For you cannot see.



--Do you see:
--That magnificent Tree;
--It has such color;
--Of hews, a symphony,
--And all the leaves moving,
--In the breeze, do you see?

I cannot make out,
The individual leaves on the tree.

But again I close my eyes;
To see its arboreal majesty,
To not use my heart to view it,
Would be a travesty.
And yes, now I see,
Each and every leaf!
Moving in the wind with stillness,
I even see each leaf's relief!
This wonderful life form,
Ever bearing witness,
To all things done before it,
In cruelty or in Kindness.
So yes, I see the Tree,
In profound regard.

Indeed this truly is,
What it means to stand guard.
Can you see,
What I have seen?
Can you go,
Where I have just been?
If not, I pity you,
For you cannot see.
